Freshfields advises PayPal on GoPay fundraising
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer ('Freshfields') has advised PayPal on its participation in a fundraising by GoPay, the payments business of the Indonesian technology “decacorn” Gojek Group. The investment was announced on 3 June 2020. Other participating investors included Facebook, Google and Tencent.
As part of its commercial agreement, PayPal’s payment capabilities will be integrated into Gojek’s services and the two companies will also collaborate to allow customers of GoPay to gain access to PayPal’s network of more than 25 million merchants around the globe.
The Freshfields team was led by partners Robert Ashworth and Nigel Gleeson.
