Advising the winning consortium of infrastructure investors on the acquisition of London City Airport from Global Infrastructure Partners and Highstar Capital.
The transaction continued our strong track record in the UK airports sector, having acted on all the major UK airport transactions in recent years.
Advising Hapag-Lloyd, Germany’s largest cargo container shipping line, on its acquisition of the United Arab Shipping Company, the largest container carrier in the Middle East.
The deal resulted in Hapag-Lloyd becoming one of the five largest container carriers in the world, with a fleet of 237 ships, a transport capacity of 1.6m twenty-feet equivalent units and an estimated turnover of $12bn.
Advising two China Shipping Group (CSG) entities on a number of simultaneous asset acquisitions and disposals and a subsequent restructuring as the group undergoes a broader restructuring involving China Ocean Shipping Group (COSCO).
The transactions form part of a larger restructuring involving both COSCO and CSG, and represent a substantial reconfiguration of two of China’s leading state-owned enterprises.
Advising a consortium of banks on the financing of the £4.2bn Thames Tideway Tunnel (TTT).
Commonly known as the “super sewer,” the TTT is intended to stop millions of tons of sewage flowing into the River Thames from London’s Victorian sewers, ensuring that the UK complies with environmental standards. The project will be the biggest scheme delivered by a UK water and sewerage company since privatization and one of the largest greenfield infrastructure projects in which UK pension funds have invested (IJ Water Deal of the Year 2016).
Advising Obchvat Nula, the winning consortium on the €1bn ($1.12bn) Slovak D4/R7 highways public–private partnership (PFI Europe PPP Deal of the Year 2016).
Obchvat Nula, the concessionaire, is a consortium comprising Cintra Infraestructuras Internacional, Macquarie Corporate Holdings and Porr. The total value of the deal was over €1bn, making it one of Europe’s largest PPP projects of 2016.
