Freshfields Awarded the MCCA 2022 Thomas L. Sager Award

Freshfields is proud to announce that the firm has been named the winner of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s 2022 Thomas L. Sager Award in Category 4 (US law firms with 250-500 lawyers). The Sager Award was presented at the association’s 25th Anniversary Diversity Gala to law firms that champion a more diverse and inclusive workplace, and that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to improving the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse attorneys.

MCCA determines the winner of the Sager Award based on its extensive review of submissions to its annual MCCA Law Firm Diversity Survey. The survey, launched in 2004, is the longest-standing diversity survey in the legal industry, and gathers insights about law firm demographics, leadership composition, and the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse lawyers. MCCA utilizes an objective data-driven Diversity Scorecard to assess performance and impact. More information is available here.

Freshfields’ approach to responsible business focuses on our commitment to ethical and responsible working practices, including our environmental impact and becoming a more diverse and inclusive workplace; making a positive contribution to the communities in which we work; and supporting our clients in the transition to a sustainable future through our client sustainability work

The firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Annual Review highlights our focus across the firm on action and continuous progress in diversity and inclusion and targets for gender, race and ethnicity, and LGBTQ+ representation, as outlined in our five-year global commitments from March 2021, driven by leadership, accountability and data.
