Young Arbitrator Debate Series

Freshfields and the American Society of International Law (ASIL) invite you to join us for the next installment of our Young Arbitrator Debate Series – co-sponsored by the ASIL Howard M. Holtzmann Research Center for the Study of International Arbitration and Conciliation.

The debate will take place on Zoom on October 7, 2021 from 12-1:30 pm ET and debaters will discuss whether international arbitral tribunals should incorporate the ICCA Guidelines on Standards of Practice in International Arbitration into their procedural orders as a means of increasing efficiency and reducing costs in arbitral proceedings. Freshfields’ International Arbitration Associate Matheus Bastos Oliveira will moderate the debate between María Carolina Durán of Sidley Austin and Matilde Flores of Chaffetz Lindsey.  Welcome remarks will be delivered by Freshfields’ International Arbitration Partner Caroline Richard and Res Wist, Deputy Executive Director of ASIL.
