About Lloyd Rees
Lloyd is a Senior Lawyer – UK Public Affairs. In this role Lloyd focusses on how major geo-political events in the UK and beyond impact our clients and firm.
Lloyd also has particular expertise around the UK’s exit from the EU (Brexit) and was heavily involved in the firm’s response to Brexit. Lloyd continues to follow these developments alongside ongoing Trade issues.
Lloyd also has a focus on the ongoing competitiveness of the UK market. Alongside several Freshfields colleagues Lloyd worked on a key report co-authored with the CityUK on increasing international investment in the UK: Driving UK growth: Capturing future international investment in a rapidly changing world. Lloyd is also working with the Chair of the UK Accelerated Settlement Taskforce – a Taskforce established by the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer and HM Treasury – on the preparation of their report.
Lloyd helped lead the design and implementation of the new City Consortium Solicitor Training Programme – comprising SQE preparation and a bespoke City Consortium Plus Programme – which will be offered to all Freshfields Trainee Associates and marks the biggest overhaul in solicitor qualification in nearly 30 years.
Lloyd is a trained Mental Health First Aider and is the founder and Co-Chair of the Freshfields UK Mental Health Affinity Network – the employee-led network dedicated to mental health and wellbeing. Lloyd has contributed to many publications on the topic of mental health and the legal profession including The Telegraph, The Lawyer and Legal Cheek. Lloyd has also appeared in numerous podcasts, webinars and events speaking about mental health and the legal profession. Lloyd is also a Champion of the legal mental health charity LawCare.
Lloyd joined Freshfields in February 2013 where he trained and qualified into the Corporate M&A team before becoming a Knowledge Lawyer.
