About Roger Li
Roger is an associate in our Silicon Valley office where he is a member of the firm's strategic risk and crisis management practice. His practice focuses on helping clients navigate high-profile government investigations, including investigations by the FTC. Roger advises on a broad range of tech, data, and consumer protection issues, including compliance with federal sectoral and state privacy laws, compliance with federal advertising laws, product design counseling, designing cybersecurity governance structures, and data breach response.
Prior to joining Freshfields, Roger was a privacy and cybersecurity associate at the San Francisco office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. During law school, Roger interned for the Electronic Frontier Foundation, working on impact litigation at the intersection of technology and civil liberties. He also participated in Penn Law's Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic, helping advise start-ups on legal matters. Before law school, he worked as a policy analyst and project manager for the City of New York.

- Represented several multinational technology companies in FTC and state Attorney General investigations into data privacy and advertising practices;
- Represented a gig economy company under investigation for its earnings claims;
- Represented a multinational technology company under investigation related to scrutiny over the collection and use of personal location data in the wake of the Dobbs decision; and
- Advised a leading credit card company on biometric privacy laws.
