About Fabrice Grillo

Avocat à la cour, Fabrice heads the finance practice of our global transactions group in Paris. He is a member of our financial institutions and global financial investors sector groups and a relationship partner for key clients in these sectors.

He has a deep knowledge of banking, structured finance and debt capital markets, and advises major financial institutions, multinational corporates and sponsors on issues within these practice areas.

Fabrice has significant expertise in corporate finance and treasury helping clients in defining their liquidity strategy and access to the debt market whether in the context of strategic acquisitions, refinancings or distressed credit situations.

His understanding of the commercial constraints under which his clients operate, ensures pragmatic, innovative and realistic advice.

Fabrice is fluent in French and English.

Recent work

Recent work of Fabrice includes advising: 

  • Compagnie Générale des Établissements Michelin SCA, on the financing of its recommended all-cash offer for London-listed Fenner plc;
  • A pool of banks in their negotiations with Areva SA in connection with the reimbursement of a EUR 1,250,000,000 revolving facility, a new facility of EUR 275,000,000 and the replacement of a bank performance guarantee granted in connection with the third generation Olkiluoto EPR (OL3) in Finland, this being one of the largest corporate restructuring in recent years;
  • Ardian on its acquisition of the 44% stake held by Total and BP in Société du Pipeline Méditerranée Rhône;
  • Ceconomy on the bank regulatory aspects of the acquisition of a minority stake in Fnac Darty group from Artémis;
  • Neptune Energy Group on the financing of the acquisition of Engie E&P International from Engie;
  • Cinven on the financing of the acquisition of Chryso from LBO France;
  • Solvay on the financing aspects of the sale of its acetow business to Blackstone;
  • NordLB as arranger of an innovative freight receivables asset backed facility for X-Press Feeders in Singapore and the UK;
  • BNP Paribas on the pan-European trade receivables securitisation of the Suez group, one of the few off—balance sheet securitisation facilities in Europe under IFRS involving a third party investor;
  • ING Bank on the structuring and implementation of a complex asset-backed facility for Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) in the US and Singapore to refinance the acquisition of NOL by CMA CGM;
  • Nord/LB, HSBC France, ING Bank, HBV Unicredit and Crédit Indsutriel et Commercial in relation to the freight securitisation of CMA CGM and its subsidiaries in Germany, Australia and Singapore, improving flexibility for the group financing.
