About Laurent Bougard
Laurent is a counsel in the firm’s Antitrust, Competition and Trade Group based in Tokyo. His practice covers all areas of competition law, with a particular focus on global merger control investigations.
He has extensive experience with merger control regimes in Asia and Europe, including complex Phase I and Phase II merger control investigations requiring remedies. Prior to joining Freshfields' Tokyo office, he worked on matters across various sectors, notably financial sponsors and industrials. He also brings significant expertise in trade defence issues, and has been closely involved in navigating foreign investment screening rules and the EU Foreign Subsidies regime for several Asia-based companies.
Laurent is fluent in English, Dutch and French.
